The Police College was established in Zemun in 1972. Until 1991, the Police College had the status of an independent institution, and in the period between 1991 and 2006 it was a separate organisational unit of the Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Serbia. In addition, the Police College was a part of the education system, whose operation was governed by the regulations concerning college education. Basic activities of the College were vocational and scientific training in the field of public and state security, and permanent training of police staff. In addition to its basic activity, there were activities related to research and development, student mentoring and extracurricular activities for students. The Police College and Police Academy integrated in 2006, giving the Academy of Criminalistic and Police Studies.
